Natural Looking Makeup
Bright colourful makeup looks are fun. Flashy eyelashes and sequins really draw attention. But so too does a wonderfully natural look. Think of your favourite movie protagonists. Aren’t they always making heads turn? And isn’t their look a naturally polished one? So how do you, the female protagonist of your own life, acquire a naturally polished look? Here’s how.
Face
After toning and moisturising the face, apply a small amount of foundation primer. This silky product evens out the texture of the skin, fills in large pores and smoothens out wrinkles. The foundation application would easier after this step.
Apply a liquid foundation in the exact shade as your skin. Use a foundation brush to apply the foundation as this would give it the most natural look.
Use a clean makeup sponge and pat off excess makeup.
Apply a creamy concealer in either the same shade as the skin or a shade lighter under the eyes and on the entire eyelids to even out the skin tone in this area.
Pat off excess with a sponge or tissue.
With a large powder brush dust a light coating of finishing powder over the entire face to mattify and set the foundation. Do not use excess powder as this would have the face looking cakey and unnatural.
Spray on some fixing spray to refresh the face and ensure that the makeup stays on all day/night.
Cheeks
Choose a peachy pink blush as this is universally flattering on all skin tones.
Apply a small amount to apples of the cheeks and blend outwards towards the temples. Only dip the brush into the blush once for each cheek. For a natural look, there should be only a flush of colour.
With an angled blush brush, apply a matte bronzer to the hollows of the cheeks. Don’t know where to put it? Suck in your cheeks like a fish and apply just under the cheekbones. Remember to apply with a light hand and blend well.
Lips
Glaze lips with a lip balm or cocoa butter. Rub lips together until you hardly feel the product anymore.
Use a lip liner in the same shade as your natural lips. If your lips are a little darker than usual, pick a shade close to the inside of your lips. Apply all over the lips and not only draw a line on the outer edges.
Dab a little clear lip gloss on the centre of the lips only.
Eyes
Apply a slightly pearlescent vanilla eye shadow in a creamy texture to the fixed eyelid.
On the mobile eyelid, apply a flesh colour and blend well with the cream.
Use a brown colour in the crease and buff out well with a blending brush.
Dot a black brown eye pencil in between the lashes.
Apply two coats of black mascara to bottom and top lashes.
Eyebrows
With a stiff angled brush dipped in brow gel apply to well shaped brows in soft feathery strokes.
Highlight
Use a creamy product with only the merest hint of iridescence and apply to the length of the nose and above the cheeks.
There you have it. Are you sure I haven’t seen you recently in movie, dear?
