Natural Finish Makeup

With makeup looks you can choose the feature that will be the centre of attention. It can be the eyes, lips, cheeks or even the skin. Although the skin is often overlooked as a focus, in natural finish makeup it is the star of the show. It is healthy looking, evenly toned in colour, smooth, soft and firm with small pores. But only babies have that type of skin, right? Au contraire, my friend. There are some secret weapons you can use to rival the skin of babies and cop the best skin title for yourself.

Skin Care

  • After cleansing your skin in your daily routine, splash your face a few times with cool water. This would tighten your pores and make them appear smaller.
  • Using a toner every time you cleanse is an easy way to tighten large pores. This helps to even out the texture of your skin.
  • Exfoliation is a must for smooth and supple skin. Use an exfoliator to buff away dead skin cells that can dull appearance and cause flakiness. Freshly buffed skin is smooth and dewy looking.
  • A mask gives intense treatment to skin. It can be used for deep cleansing, firming and tightening, clarifying and smoothing the skin of the face and neck.
  • Visit an aesthetician monthly for a professional facial that would include removal of white and blackheads for a smooth and polished look to the skin.
  • Tools

  • Use a foundation brush to apply liquid foundation to face. Blend well to avoid a streaky look. You can also use a blender sponge which blends makeup into the skin flawlessly. It is shaped like a 3D tear drop which is perfect for applying foundation to tricky places like around the nostrils and under the eyes.
  • Wet a sponge first and then apply foundation for a lighter finish.
  • A kabuki brush would buff a finishing powder into the skin to a flawless and smooth finish. The trick is to use swirling motions all over the face without lifting the brush off the skin.
  • Products

  • Skin primer is the key to smoothing out skin so that it feels like silk. This also improves the foundation application.
  • Deluxe finishing powder softens and mattifies the face after foundation.
  • Tinted moisturiser can be used instead of liquid or cream foundation as it has a lighter finish and looks very natural.
  • Many brands offer a spray foundation. You either spray this directly onto your face and then blend out with a sponge or spray on a sponge and blend out on your face.
  • Creamy concealer does quick work of blemishes and discolouration. Apply over foundation to avoid overusing the product.
  • Fix it sprays sets the foundation and refreshes the skin at the same time giving your face a natural dewy look.
  • Airbrush Makeup

  • Airbrushed makeup has been a favourite in celebrity circles for quite some time. It’s no secret that it can gives flawless looking skin in a snap, or rather a spray. As it is an expensive process, you can make appointments to have this done by a professional. Or you can purchase a Temptu home airbrush system. This brings the airbrushing home to you so that you can apply it yourself. When you purchase the kit, you will get tested for your correct skin tone and instructed on how to use it to achieve the best results. Then you’re off to airbrush the perfect skin for yourself.
