Makeup Brush Cleaner
Maintaining clean brushes is a worthwhile effort. Don’t be daunted by the task as there are so many products available to make this intimidating task a lot easier. You can find many of these supplies at home or in the stores.
Store Bought Brush Cleaner
You can buy a brush cleaner from a department store or beauty supply store. A readymade makeup brush cleaner will clean up all traces of makeup, disinfect the bristles and condition the hair of the brush so that they do not get dry and brittle. Just spray a couple the brush hairs a couple of times and wipe clean with a dry towel or paper towel. When you use this method the makeup brush is perfectly dry after you are done. This is very convenient if you don't have the time to wait for brushes to dry.
In addition to the spray form as described above, there are also liquid brush cleaners available. You pour a little of the cleaner into a bowl of warm water and swish the brush bristles around in it until residue stops coming out. You then lay flat on a towel to dry. These formulas work well for both natural and synthetic makeup brushes.
Homemade Brush Cleaner
Vinegar/Alcohol and Water
Combine two parts water to one part vinegar or alcohol in a container. Dip the brushes in the mixture for about 30 seconds and then rinse clean in warm water. This disinfects your brushes quite well. As always lay flat to dry.
Homemade Mixture
Combine a cup of water, one quarter of a cup of alcohol, half a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid, a tablespoon of leave in conditioner and half a tablespoon of shampoo in a bottle. Stir the ingredients together. Don’t shake as the mixture would start to get bubbly. Pour into a spray bottle and you would have a good brush cleaner for the go.
Tea Tree Oil
Add a few drops of tea tree oil to some shampoo mixed in warm water and swirl the dirty brushes in it. The tea tree oil acts as a disinfectant and with its anti-fungal properties it a wonderful ingredient to ensure that your brushes are very clean.
So now you have no excuse to harbour dirty brushes to apply your makeup. There is quite a choice to getting these essential utensils clean and you can be assured they all work wonderfully well.
