Joe Blasco Makeup School

The Joe Blasco Makeup School has been in existence for 33 years and was founded by professional makeup artist Joe Blasco. Joe Blasco has worked for many leading cosmetic companies and for other enterprises during his long career that made him familiar with all types of makeup applications.

The school has makeup centres located in various parts of the United States to make attendance to the school by aspiring makeup artists more convenient. It is the largest campus for makeup artistry. The objective of each course is for the graduate to seek entry level employment in whichever field he/she desires in the makeup business. The students’ activities and progress are monitored very closely. So strict is the monitoring that if the student is not up to par with the skill level shown by previous students, he/she would be removed from the programme and refunded according to the school’s policies. This ensures that the school continues to produce graduates with high levels of dexterity.

The Joe Blasco Makeup School offers the following courses for enrolment:

Professional Makeup Artistry Course

This course lasts eleven weeks and introduces the student to a wide range of makeup applications for beauty makeup, old age makeup, bald cap application, hair work, character makeup and injury simulation, monster makeup and prosthetic makeup. Also included in this programme is the makeup production module that outlines the business side of the field, including resumes, building a portfolio and how to secure jobs.

Beauty Makeup Artistry Course

This three week course would teach the student how to apply makeup for males and females for general beauty practices such as in cosmetic companies, salons and for photography. The modules covered in this course are theory of beauty makeup, hygiene and sanitisation, base selection and application, highlighting and contouring, eye and lip makeup application and fantasy makeup.

Advanced Prosthetic Makeup Artistry Course

This is perfect for those students who want to enter the area of makeup artistry for motion pictures and television. It deals with prosthetic design, sculpting techniques, negative and positive molds, foaming and colouring techniques and the application of the prosthetic pieces all in the space of four weeks.

Master Courses

This is a merging of all the modules in the Professional Makeup Artistry and Advanced Prosthetic Makeup Artistry courses. This master class lasts for fifteen weeks.

These courses range from US $3,000 to $13,000 for tuition only. Makeup material costs would carry up the totals of the intensive courses to a range from US $5,100 to $16,600.
