Green Eyes Makeup
I have always wanted to trade in my dark brown eyes for green ones. When you see a girl walk by with green eyes, you think she leads an exotic and thoroughly exciting life. Green eyes are full of mystery and adventure and for so many years I wanted to be that girl.
Green irises are one of the rarest eye colours around and they always make a statement. With the right type of makeup look, they can completely transform a woman's face from ordinary to glamorous.
Neutral Colours
For a subtle eye catching look, green eyed lasses should go for taupe, rose, pinks, browns and lilacs Purples and pink add just the right hint of contrast to cause green irises to stand out. Even though shades of green shadow can be used with green eyes, it should be done sparingly as too much green eye shadow can make the eyes just get lost in a sea of greens.
Dramatic Eyes
Bring a little drama to your green eyes with intensifying the colour. If you're getting ready for a night out, an ideal look would be a rich smoky purple eye. This works well for lighter green eyes.
To the brow bone, apply a taupe or flesh colour.
On the mobile eyelid, pack on a dark purple with a hint of iridescence. Remember this is night time makeup so shimmer and pearly tones are allowed.
Blend the two colours well.
Then smudge the purple on the lower lash line as well.
Apply loads of black eyeliner and mascara to complete the look.
If this look is too much for you, you can try something a bit more subdued. This would also be suitable for those with eyes of a richer green.
To the brow bone, apply a light gold tone.
Use a shimmery pale green shadow on the mobile eyelid and blend it well with the gold.
On the outer corners of the eyes, for a pop of colour and contrast, add a rich matte purple. Blend this well into the surrounding colours so that it doesn't overpower the eyes.
Apply dark eyeliner and mascara and you're good to go.
Dare to take it up a notch? Purple mascara with gold undertones can add another interesting element to your makeup. Lay on three to four coats if you're going out at night and up to two coats for a daytime look.
Eyeliner presents opportunities here too for green eyes. Charcoal, black and purple shades add a striking contrast to an otherwise neutral eye.
You can also cause your green eyes to be a focal point if the rest of the face is a positive contrast. Choose peachy and rosy tones on the cheeks and almost red shades of lipstick and gloss for your green eyes to stand out.
This has been my ode to the green eyed gals out there. Add allure to your face by choosing the right eye makeup shades to enhance your eyes for subtle to bold looks.
