Eye shadow Makeup & Other Eye Products
You enter the store and a feeling of euphoria hits you. It's almost like heaven! But as you go through each aisle, you're bombarded again and again by products that promise the best and supposedly work better that their closest competition. Your brain freezes and your eyes cloud over as you just stand there in a stupefied daze. Your shopping trip has taken a turn for the worse. How could you possibly choose?
That's okay. It happens to everyone. The best way to counteract this is to prepare yourself adequately with a wide knowledge base so that you know enough about each product category to make an informed purchase.
Generally, eye makeup products have the widest range of all makeup products. The trick here to know which formula in each category works best for your features so that you do not end up with merchandise you would not likely use.
Eye Shadow
The most popular formula is the pressed powder form but other choices include loose pigments, cream, mousse and mineral.
Pressed powder comes in a small compact case either sold singly or in color combinations. It can be easily transported with only a small risk of breakage.
Loose pigments are usually contained in a small vial and can be used with a wet or dry brush. Spillage is possible in transporting it and so is fallout when applying to the eyes.
Cream textured eye shadow has a variety of uses. You can use it as a base to intensify the color of powder eye shadow (to be placed after); you can use it as eyeliner with an eyeliner or angle brush; or you can use it simply to add color to the eyelid. This formula, however, can crease a lot so it would be worth the effort to use an eye shadow primer first.
The newest type of eye shadow on the market is eye shadow mousse. It's creamier than the previous category and applies thicker to the eyelids. Also, as before, you should apply a primer to your lids.
Mineral eye shadow is all the rage right now. It claims to be pure and gentle so that it won't irritate your skin.
Eyeliner
This comes in pencil, cream, cake or liquid form. You should really experiment to see which is easiest for you to apply. My personal favorite is Graftobian’s crème foundation in black. The texture is very smooth and lasts all day!
Mascara
The different formulas are as follows: lengthening, thickening, curling, volumising and lately, tubing.
Lengthening mascara adds length to shorter lashes.
Curling mascara, in my opinion, does a better job at holding the curl in place when lashes have already been curled with an eyelash curler than encouraging curl from stick straight lashes.
Volumising mascara adds length and volume so that the whole fringe of lashes appears fuller and thicker.
Tubing mascara works quite well on very short lashes as it adds artificial tubes to the ends of natural lashes so that they actually longer. It is removed with soap and water so it stands up well to tears and swimming.
With sufficient information you can now go out and make the right purchases for your features.
