Eye Makeup Removers

So you’ve just come back in from a night out and you had a fantastic time. Everyone was enamoured with your makeup and you felt like the star of the show. Now it’s time for bed and taking off that makeup.

It is a fact that taking off your makeup correctly is just as important, if not more so, as putting it on well. It is never a good idea to go directly to sleep with your makeup on. You can easily clog your pores, break your lashes and wake up to racoon eyes and puffiness. And even though your body may feel rested, it’s a guarantee that your face had a rough time during the night.

There are many products on the market for eye makeup removal. You would want to choose a way that is gentle on the eye area.

Eye Makeup Remover - Liquid

  • With the thumb of the other hand lift the eyebrow gently.
  • Wet a cotton ball or cotton pad with the makeup remover liquid and place over your closed eyelid. Hold it there for a few seconds so that the remover has time to soak through and loosen the layers of eye makeup.
  • Using downward motions gently wipe the wet cotton over the eyelid, removing the makeup.
  • Fold the cotton pad in two and gently rub against the upper lashes to remove the mascara.
  • Dip a cotton bud in the liquid remover and run along the water line and lower lashes to remove makeup there.
  • Eye Makeup Remover – Wipes

Another popular way to remove eye makeup is with wipes. They offer a faster and easier way to get the job done.

  • Simply remove the wipe from the re-sealable pack and follow the same steps as with using a liquid.
  • This one also gets rid of eyeliner on the waterline easily without the worry of being irritated by loose cotton fibres.
  • Cleansing Oil

Yet another option for quick eye makeup removal is cleaning the entire area with cleansing oil. You may think oil would cause your eyelids to become greasy and create a smeary mess but it actually softens and soothes the delicate eye area well.

  • On a dry face, apply the oil eye area and gently rub all over lids and lashes.
  • Wash with water. This causes the oil to emulsify into a type of milk that washes clean away, taking the eye makeup with it down the drain.
  • Eye Makeup Remover – Wash

After using the makeup removing liquid and wipes, a good idea is to cleanse the area with your usual face wash. This gets rid of any residual eye makeup and leaves the area clean and refreshed. You can also wash the rest of your face at once, apply some toner and pamper your skin with a night cream and your eyes with an eye serum.

Remember to be very gentle when cleaning the eye area. Avoid any tugging and pulling that can lead to sagging skin and wrinkles later on in life. Keep the area clean, refreshed and hydrated so that the skin would be healthy and supple.
