Do It Yourself Facial
Every now and then you feel like giving yourself a treat. Maybe it’s a reward for achieving some milestone or you’re happy that you’re sticking to your new diet. In the same way, your skin needs a little pampering. This brightens up skin that could get easily get dull during your daily errands and duties and gives it a bit of rejuvenation. You can book a monthly appointment at a spa or you can so it yourself in the comfort of your own home. I would recommend that you commit to this twice weekly and see the gorgeous difference it makes in your skin’s appearance.
Put on some soothing music that you know would relax you. If necessary, get a family member to babysit or schedule this for when younger persons in your home are asleep. You need to be in a relaxed and calm frame of mind so that your skin can achieve optimum benefits. Light scented candles if it helps.
Use your general cleanser and apply to your skin. Take the time and massage the product all over skin for at least a minute.
Rinse completely and pat dry with a fluffy towel.
Boil some water and pour into a large wide bowl. You should see the steam vapours rising.
Bend your face over the bowl, hovering about six inches above the bowl. Place the towel over your head so that the vapours are trapped. The heat from the steam would open up the pores of your skin so that impurities can be easily removed.
Remain like this for about 15 minutes. Concentrate on taking deep cleansing breaths as the very warm environment may be new to you.
Remove the towel and your face should be quite moist at this time.
Use a gentle facial scrub and massage into your skin for about a minute, avoiding the eye area. This would free the impurities from your pores that came to the surface of your skin during the steaming. Be careful when choosing a facial scrub. They should be filled with completely smooth and round beads. Harshly shaped granules cause micro abrasions in the skin which actually make small tears in your face.
Rinse well, being careful to not get the tiny beads into your eyes. Pat your face dry to prepare for the next step.
Now it’s time for a mask. Depending on your skin type you would choose the right mask. It can be deep cleansing, clarifying, firming or smoothing. Apply a thick even layer to your skin, avoiding the eye area.
Apply cucumber slices to your eyes and lie back and relax. These naturally reduce puffiness and swelling.
After 15 minutes, rinse with warm water and pat your face dry.
Apply a very hydrating cream to your skin.
Your skin should now look and feel completely refreshed and be baby soft and smooth. Imagine you achieved such spectacular results at home!
