Beauty Products on the Market

On almost every other page in the magazines are advertisements for beauty products. If you do a Google search any of these for a review, someone else is sure to have tried it already and has posted her opinion on it. You cannot have everything, especially since every product would not work for you. Here is a simple guide to products that universally work well.

Primers

A primer smoothes the surface of the skin so that it is smoother and fine lines and wrinkles are relaxed. It also causes the product that would be applied after to work at its optimum.

  • Face primer – this allows the foundation to be flawlessly applied. Some even have SPF and vitamins that improve the skin’s texture after time.
  • Eye shadow primer – this base serves a variety of purposes. It cause eye shadows and loose pigments to stick firmly to the eyelids; it increases the shadows’ brightness and longevity; and it defies creasing of the eye shadow.
  • Lip primers – smoothes the surface of the lip for a smooth lipstick application that lasts and lasts.
  • Bronzers

Everyone wants to have bronzed look these days, no matter the season and a bronzer is an easy way to achieve this.

  • Use a matte bronzer to contour cheeks and face.
  • If the bronzer has a light shimmer to it, apply it lightly above the cheekbones and collarbones to give them a lift.

    Highlighters

This provides the most natural glow to the face and body and is the final step to a flawless makeup application.

  • Use one with a creamy consistency to highlight the following places: over brows, centre of forehead, under eyes, length of nose, Cupid’s bow and above the chin.
  • Add a few drops of a liquid illuminator to your liquid foundation to get an all over customised Hollywood glow.
  • Lotions infused with light reflecting particles ensure that your whole body has the glow to match your face.
  • Shine Control

In a warm climate and after a muggy day it is normal for you to feel hot and sticky and experience some shine. There are a few ways to counteract this and maintain a matte and fresh appearance despite the environmental factors.

  • Shine control balm – is applied after moisturiser to keep the skin matte.
  • Oil absorbing sheets – these paper thin little sheets suck up excess oil from the skin without removing makeup.
  • Oil blocking powder – this is a translucent colourless powder that can be applied over your foundation to set it as well as to inhibit the appearance of shine.
  • These products give you the extra je ne said quoi that would have everyone going oh la la la!
